The Dynamic 365 software in the Microsoft stable is meant to be just that — dynamic. That means coming up with regular updates. The Dynamics 365 also has automatic updating, which means your software gets regularly upgraded, adapts and changes.

Microsoft released Dynamics 365 updates in end 2016. With this recent update, the Dynamic 365 combines Microsoft’s CRM with its ERP functions. On the CRM side the app includes Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, and Project Service Automation. On the ERP side it includes finance and operational functions. You can license what you need for your organisation.

The navigation for the apps has been simplified. The apps are completely customised. You can pick and choose what you need and create a composite app according to your organisational needs. Some other notable updates are:

Mobile enhancements:

The app has been created to invoke a workspace on your mobile. You can prioritise tasks, add to your ‘Favorites’, make notes and so on. The layout has been made compact and provides more options for customisation. Not only does it integrate offline functions, it also allows the use of various devise tools like camera and multimedia.

Integration with Outlook:

It has completely integrated Outlook mail functions like contacts, recipient pics,designation, company name, business phone etc. Other additions include relevant search and easier attachments.

It added a preview of Relationship Insights, which integrates information from various customer interaction tools like Microsoft Outlook and Exchange. It collates all important functions in one ready to access and use format. The features acts as a virtual assistant, reminding you of important commitments or plans.

The feature Email engagement acts as an email assistant, helping you to compose messages, choose message template, send scheduled mails and even inform you about recipient’s reception.

It can track relevant messages by email address.

Introduction of Learning Path, a composite training modules which uses various tools like videos  and walkthroughs. Best of all, it can be customised according to the role of the trainee. For instance, a PR team will only have to go through Learning Path designed for them and not for the finance team.

Concurrently run business process:

You can now jump from one process to another, working concurrently on both. A procedure can be marked Active, Finished or Abandoned. This will help you in keeping track of procedures as you switch between them

The Interactive hub also went through a number of upgrades that make it easier to use. Quick search through records, a grid format for records, linking similar issues, an easy-to-use clipboard and better email integration.

Introduction of connected field service, a proactive service model that is based on Internet of Things and machine learning. This revolutionary function uses integration and prediction to come up with operational solutions.

Resource scheduling optimization that literally sets up scheduling for efficient use of time and manpower. Common Scheduling Solution is a similar tool, used for scheduling almost anything, such as bookings or technician visits.

Project Service Automation consolidates Microsoft Project, Calendar, fields for taxation with better Copy functionality.

Enhanced relevant search.

Editable grids for better record keeping.
